Chan II-7(The color of the tears)

언제부터인가 첸은 청담동에 있는 한 부띠끄를 다녔다.

Since when Chan became a customer of a boutique at Cheongdam-dong.

매장은 그다지 크지 않았다.

The store was not large!

한 30평 정도의 매장이었지만, 그러나 고객을 향한 서비스라고 할까?

Although the store of 30 pyung, but the fashion designer had very kind consideration for the customers.

패션 디자이너님의 서비스 정신은 매우 풍부한 디자이너였다.

거의 70평 정도를 고객을 위한 서비스 공간으로 할애를 하였다.

The fashion designer used to create the services the space of 70 pyung for the customers.

즉, 매장은 30평이었지만, 나머지 70평은 고객을 위한 서비스 공간이었다.

Namely, the store was 30 pyung, but the service space was 70 pyung.

거기는 고객이 얘기를 나눌 수 있는 그런 까페도 있었고, 그리고 다자이너와의 상담실도 있었다.

심지어는 조그마한 식당도 있었는데, 그 식당에서는 고객이 원하는 음식을 주문을 하면, 무료로 요리사가 요리를 만들어주는 멤버십 회원을 위한 식당도 운영이 되어있었고, 피부관리실과 헤어 케어실, 스포츠 마사지 룸까지 운영하고 있었다.

There were a cafe to communicate among customers, a consultation room to talk with the fashion designer, even small restaurant to be cooked by a chef in free when the customers ordered, skin care room, hair care room & even sports massage room.

그것은 아마도 회원제만의 특별한 커뮤니티 공간을 창출해서 고객과의 허심탄회한 대화를 유도해서, 패션 디자인을 할 때, 디자이너는 고객과 가족이 되어야 한다는 철학을 실천하고 있는 분이셨다.

The fashion designer practiced his philosophy that should become a family with customers.

The CEO had the following fashion philosophy, 'When to design fashion, if we could induce the frank minds from our customers, through to create special spaces for our members, the consideration can not help creating a good fashion design!'.

고객이 좋아하는 스타일을 파악하고, 심지어는 고객의 시어머니가 어떤 색깔을 싫어하는지 섬세하게 배려할 수 있다며, 디자이너님의 프로 근성을 잘 알 수 있는 곳이었다.

Even the customer's mother-in-law disliked any color or any style, not only the customer's style, the fashion designer considered, it was the special proud & the professional nature of the fashion designer only.

고객과 가족이 되고, 친해지고, 가족처럼 솔직하고 편안하게 커뮤니케이션 하기 위해서, 여러가지 다양한 풍요로운 서비스를 하는 요즘 가장 인기좋은 패션 디자이너였다.

The CEO was the most popular fashion designer nowadays, because the CEO supported very various services abundantly to become a family, to be familiar, to be frankly, to be comfortably with customers!

이 부띠끄를 어떻게 알게 되었냐는 나의 질문에, 대학때 같은 동아리 활동을 했었던, 같은 대학 동창이라고 첸은 얘기해주었다.

Chan said the CEO was the college alumnus, the same club member in university, when I asked how you knew the CEO.

첸이 대학 1학년 때부터 야학 동아리를 했었는데, 야학은 주말이나 밤에 어떤 사정으로 인해 제때 공부하지 못한 사람들이 일이나 가정을 돌보면서 공부를 하는 곳이었다.

Chan served to teach at a night school from 1st year of university, there studied to care both working and home for the person, as could not study at a regular school, in weekend or at night.

때론 검정고시를 통해 대학을 가는 야학생도 있었다.

Sonetimes, there were a few students to go to the university.

일종의 뒤늦은 공부를 하는 분들께 과외 선생을 하는 곳이 야학이다.

For the persons studying lately, the night school acted as university's students were tutors.

그런데, 아무래도 서울대 생들이 공부를 잘했기 때문에, 야학 동아리 활동이 상당히 활발했던 것이다.

Byvthecway, Seoul university's students have been good students, they acted positively Night School Activity.

그때 의상디자인학과를 다녔었는데, 그가 대학을 마치고, 프랑스로 유학을 갔다와서, 의상학을 공부를 하고, 강남 청담동에 조그마한 부띠끄를 차렸다는 것이다.

At that time, he went to study Fashion Design, in Seoul National University, since he ended to study in France(Fashion Design), he opened a small boutigue in Kangnam-gu, Cheongdam-dong!

그런데, 그것이 잘 되서, 규모있는 부띠끄로 만들어졌다고 한다.

It was operating well so that he opened the scaleable boutigue.

첸은 강연을 나가면서, 그 부띠끄에서 디자인해준 옷을 입고 강연을 했었다.

When Chan lectured with wearing on the dress, as the fashion designer designed & made.

첸이 강연을 할 때, 상당히 많은 강연료를 받았고, 첸이 자신이 강연했던 것들을 모아서 책을 내면, 그 책도 역시 매우 잘 팔렸다.

Chen was used to get a high lecture fee, to be getting famous as the best seller, because it was published since Chan gathered many lectures.

그래서, 첸은 어느새 세계적 석학이자, 유명한 정신과 의사였고, 유명 강사이자 베스트 셀러 작가가 되었다.

So Chan became an World-Class Scholar, a Famous Psychiatrist, Fanous Instructor & Best Seller!

한 마디로 첸이 유명해지기 시작하면서, 첸은 강연을 갈 때, 옷에 신경을 쓰게 된 것이다.

Namely, Chan was getting famous so that Chan was interesting to her dress when Chan went to lecture.

그래서, 멤버십으로 운영이 되는, 대학 때 야학 동아리 활동에서 만난, 친구의 부띠끄를 다니게 되었던 것이다.

So Chan was used to go to Membership Operating Boutigue of Chan's friend known through meeting of night school acting at her university time.

아마도 첸의 책을 우연히 서점에서 접하게 되어서, 그 패션 디자이너가 직접 연락을 해왔다던지, 첸이 정신과 병원을 운영하고 있으니까, 거기서 연결이 되었다던지, 첸이 유명해지면서 알게된 친구였던 것 같다.

Maybe, the fashion designer called to Chan at bookstore by chance to have read her book.

Or he might visit to Chan's hospital directly.

Anyway, he was known since Chan was famous!

나는 그것을 사치라고 생각하지 않았다.

I didn't think it was luxurious!

왜냐하면, 유명인으로서 유명 강사로서 당연히 의상에는 신경을 써야하는 것이기 때문이다.

Because Chan's dress was managed naturally as a famous instructor.

그리고, 첸은 중국인이었기 때문에, 중국 고유의 의상을 입고, 해외에서 강연을 하는 경우도 많았다.

And, Chan was used to wear on Chinese Dress because she was a Chinese, when she lectured abroad specially .

물론, 첸은 다리가 없었지만, 그런 것에 대해서, 별로 개의치 않고, 첸은 되도록 아름다운 옷을 입기를 원했다.

Of course, Chan didn't have her two legs, but she didn't care her handicap, Chan was used to lecture abroad often with wearing on Chinese Traditional Dress.

그다지 화려하지 않았지만, 첸의 품위있고 아름다운 모습이 충분히 어필되고, 전문가로서의 프라이드가 돋보이는 디자인이 주류를 이루었다고 볼 수 있다.

Her dress style was not fancy, Chan's elegance & beautiful figure were expressed well.

Namely, Chan's pride was appealed enough as a specialist.

그래서, 사실 20평 남짓한 소형 아파트로는 첸의 의상을 감당하기 어려웠다.

So, frankly speaking, we could not store Chan's dresses in our small apartment of 20 pyung.

그래서, 우리는 30평대의 첸의 강연시 옷장을 만들 수 있는 아니 옷방을 만들 수 있는 30평형대의 아파트로 이사를 가게 되었다.

So we became to move our apartment of 30 pyung more largely to make the dress room for Chan.

현이는 너무나 좋아했다.

Hyuni liked our new & large apartment so much.

왜냐하면, 20평형대의 아파트는 방이 두 칸 밖에 없었는데, 30평형대는 방이 세칸이 있어서, 자신이 좋아하는 할아버지 할머니를 여기서 모시고 와서 다만 며칠이라도 같이 살 수 있다는 현실이 너무나 행복했었나보다.

Because Hyuni seemed so happy because of the reality to live with his grandfather & grandmother together during several days.

Hyuni liked them so much.

Hyuni delighted to have three rooms in new apartment.

There were two rooms just our old apartment.

그리고, 할아버지, 할머니 첸의 아버지 어머니는 현이를 무척이나 귀여워하셨다.

And, Chan's parents loved Hyuni so much.

현이를 통해서 외가와는 상당히 돈독한 관계를 유지할 수 있었다.

Through Hyuni, we were so familiar with Chan's siblings or parents.

그래서, 아이는 한 가정의 천사와도 같은 존재인 것 같았다.

So, a kid seemed an angel at home.

현이는 무럭무럭 컸고, 첸은 더욱 유명해졌고, 정신신체화 증상에 관한 한 새계적 석학으로서 이름을 날렸다.

Hyuni was growing well, Chan was getting famous, as the world-class scholar on Psychosomatic Symptoms.

그리고, 나의 정신과 전문 의료 전산 시스템은 전 세계에 뻗어 갔다.

And, my Psychiatric Medical IT System was going a sale well into this world.

그래서, 나는 더욱 많은 돈을 벌었고, 그렇게 우리 가족들은 모두 다 번창하고 있었다.

So I earned so much, so our all family was prosperous.

비록 서류상 결혼은 아니었지만, 첸은 누가봐도 나의 아내였고, 현이는 누가봐도 나의 소중한 아들이었다.

Although we didn't get married in file, Chan was my dear wife, Hyuni was my lovely son surely.

이렇게 우리는 너무나 행복하고 단란한 가정 생활을 이어갔었다.

Like this, we were going so happily, purely.

꿈이면 깨지말기를 바라고 또 바랬다.

Never I wanted to wake up keenly when I was dreaming!

그런데, 어느날 불행이란 것은 도둑처럼 온다고 했을까?

But, one day, is misfortune coming suddenly like a thief?

첸의 옛날 남자친구가 왔다.

Her old boyfriend visited here to be gotten treatment by Chan.

정신과의 환자로서 진료를 받으러 왔다.

Chan's old boyfriend came on our hospital as a patient.

첸은 남자친구를 거부하지 않았다.

Chan didn't refuse treatment her old boyfriend.

그리고, 그 병원의 사무직으로서, 그녀를 도와주고 있는 나도 그녀의 남자친구 얼굴을 엉엉 울면서 무릎을 꿇고 머리를 바닥 끝까지 닿으면서, 제발 용서해달라고 했던 첸의 남자친구의 모습을 너무도 생생히 기억하고 있었기에 나는 그 남자가 첸의 남자친구라는 것을 알았다.

I knew he was Chan's old boyfriend because he had cried loudly & asked keenly to be forgiven by Chan's parents with reaching his head by the floor of the hospital room.

I worked to help Chan as an office staff, how were he shown so me?

그런데, 첸은 진료 거부도 하지 않았고, 처음부터 끝까지 우아하고 품위있게 그리고 친절하게 정신과 상담을 하는 것이 아닌가?

But, Chan counselled him safely, graciously, nobly, kindly by ending as a psychiatrist!

나는 그런 첸의 침착하고 차분한 모습에 무척이나 놀랐다.

I surprised so much because of Chan's calm & refined figure!

그 남자가 진료를 받고, 처방을 받고, 그리고 정중히 고개를 숙이고, 그리고 나갔을 때, 나는 첸에게 물었다.

When Chan's old boyfriend got treatment of Chan, was prescribed by Chan, greeted me politely & got out.

I asked to Chan!

"첸! 당황하지 않았어? 너의 옛날 남자친구인데..."

"Chan, didn't you upset?

He was your old boyfriend..."

첸은 빙그레 웃어보이면서, 그런거에 당황할 정도면 의사하지 말아야지.

Chan was proud of herself with her dazzling smile, "As a doctor, I shall deal a very unstable and autonomous patient wisely!".

오빠 나 저녁때 맛있는거 사주라.

Brother, let's date at Outback Family Restaurant!

그리고, 꽃다발도 사줘.

And, my brother, give me a very beautiful bouquet!

우리 집에다가 꽃아놓게.

"Because I will plug in the bouquet at our home!"

그녀는 담담하게 내게 데이트 신청을 하는 것이 아닌가?

Did Chan ask to date with me too sophisticated?

당연히 그래야지.

So naturally!

우리 첸이 얼마나 기특한데...

Our Chan was wise so much!

나는 그날 현이를 집에서 데리고 와서 셋이서 같이 패밀리 레스토랑에 가가지고 아웃백이라는 패밀리 레스토랑에 가서 스테이크를 썰어 먹었다.

I ate beefsteaks in Outback Family Restaurant with Hyuni & Chan, because I picked up Hyuni by my car at our hospital.

오래간만에 먹는 스테이크가 첸은 무척 맛있다고 했다.

Chan ate the beefsteak so deliciously because of visiting the restaurant again after a long time.

그리고, 현이도 무척 좋아했다.

And Hyuni liked so much too.

우리는 그렇게 같이 맛있는 저녁 식사를 하고, 영화를 보고, 그리고 집으로 돌아왔다.

We came back home after eating so deliciously & seeing a movie together.

아니 어떻개 첸은 옛날 남자친구를 그렇게 담담하게 대할 수 있는 것일까?

How could Chan deal her old boyfriend so fashionably?

자신을 배반하고, 심지어는 다리가 없어진 것도 어쩌면 옛날 남자친구 때문일텐데...

Because she didn't have even her two legs, he betrayed Chan severely...

그는 도대체 어떤 연유로 정신과 치료를 받으러 왔을까?

Why did he visit here?

나는 무척 궁금했지만, 그것은 의사 고유의 권한이기 때문에, 더이상 묻지 않았다.

Although I wanted to know about the reason, I didn't ask more about it to Chan.

그 다음날 첸의 남자친구의 병명을 보니까 중증 알코올 중독이었다.

In the next day, Chan's old boyfriend's Disease name was severe alcoholism!

어떤 이유로인지 첸의 남자친구는 심각한 알코올 중독자가 되버린 것이다.

For what reason, Chan's old boyfriend became a serious alcoholic.

그리고 그 알코올 중독을 바로 첸이 고쳐야하는 의사인 것이다.

Just Chan had to cure the alcoholism!

사법고시 합격하고 재벌의 딸과 결혼을 한 재벌의 사위가 된 자신의 옛날 남자친구를 많이도 원망했을텐데...

Chan hated her old boyfriend so much maybe, because he got married with the daughter of the rich businessman after passing lawyer exam...

냉정하게도 의사로서 환자를 고쳐야하는 것이다.

Coolly, she had to cure her patient as a doctor!

자신의 옛날 남자친구의 인생을 다시 건강한 삶으로 되돌려놓아야하는 어쩌면 의사로서의 숙명에 맞닿아뜨린 것이다.

As a doctor, Chan should make her old boyfriend be healthy again!

Namely, Chan met her destiny as a doctor!

그런데, 첸은 너무나도 어른스럽고, 너무나도 의젓하지 않은가?

But, Chan was so mature, so decent!
